Tesla crash that led to death could also lead to lawsuit

Nutshell:

Legal experts have told The Guardian that the family of the man killed when his Tesla crashed while on auto-pilot might have grounds to sue the company.

More:

According to the report, the claims would likely have to be brought on Tesla overstating the abilities of the autonomous driving mode, despite the fact that there are multiple warnings about its capabilities and to keep your hands on the steering wheel at all times.

Opinion:

This a tragic crash, clearly. And if claims that the victim had a DVD player running in the car at the time are true then it does suggest that he couldn’t have been paying attention to the road ahead.

A tragic loss, but lawsuits brought in the face of multiple reminders that it’s not a self-driving car don’t seem to have any merit.
