Vibrator company named in class action lawsuit over personal data collection

Owners of We-Vibe’s ‘adult products’ have launched a class action lawsuit against the company for collecting personal data without their explicit knowledge.

The devices had been reporting back exactly when they were used, how long for, the temperature they reached and the email addresses of users to the company. We-Vibe says it was only ever collected so it could understand how people use its products and refine future models.

It would seem that the people bringing the class action suit would disagree, alleging violation of multiple US, including the “Federal Wiretap Act and Illinois Eavesdropping Statute; intrusion upon seclusion; unjust enrichment; and consumer fraud,” according to CourtHouse News.

We’ve contacted We-Vibe for comment.

Update: We-Vibe says it hasn’t been contacted or served with a lawsuit as of yet. Full update on SexTechGuide.com.
