This former rocket test site, just five miles from the Everglades National Park, began construction in 1963 with a grant from the US government. Just four years later, it was abandoned as Aerojet-Dade failed to win the NASA contract the facility hinged on.
For the next 40 years or so, the site was left abandoned and visitors that went exploring could catch sight of an underground test rocket sitting in a silo.
Now, the site is fully covered and the external buildings have been demolished.
