Nutshell:
Twitter is opening up a direct application process for people or brands that want to attain ‘Verified’ status, a previously opaque process that users couldn’t initiate.
More:
The service isn’t quite up and running just yet – hence the image above – but giving users a direct way to apply for Verified status stands a good shot at providing better engagement rates across the entire platform – a blue tick usually means more followers, given the ‘authority’ and authenticity it conveys. More followers mean more engagement per tweet, and the whole cycle is self-reinforcing.
You’ll need to have public tweets, a phone number, a DOB listed (for non-brand accounts) and a few other bits and pieces.
Get to it.
